On 21st September, some of us weavers braved the rain and met up for lunch at the Rising Cafe at Coventry Cathedral, a lovely lunch and good company. We then went to the Herbert Art Gallery, Coventry to see the Viking Exhibition. Very interesting it was too.
We had a slot booked for a demonstration on the loom.
As you can see, the Viking loom is a vertical warp-weighted loom. The same principle as say a modern rigid heddle loom but much harder work.
